Mellow Island Accoustic4
My Dad turned me on to this and I didn’t realise I had already heard it and wondered who it was by years before and again with the release of Curious George. Now I can get all his tunes and they are great hanging out back on the lanai music with a beah. They make for good happy. Not hop up and down happy but more contented sigh in a sunpuddle happy. Try one you will like his banana pancakes!

“Honey,it’s a monsoon outside”2
Jack Johnson’s “Banana Pancakes” monkeys around. It’s a suggestive song about staying inside, making “banana pancakes”,and practicing “making babies.” There are some ridiculous lyrics involving the ukelele. In the song, Johnson is pleading to his lady to stay indoors, it’s raining outside, and enjoy some delicious banana pancakes. It’s a double entendre without the smarminess of Fergie&co!

On the plus side, it has a good rhythm and good instrumentation. Johnson is a talented acoustic guitarist. He should release purely instrumental albums. It’s got a breezy Hawaiian sound. Otherwise,it’s an incredibly unsexy song about sex. It’s not sensual at all;just inane. It’s laughably bad. To make matters worse, Johnson is a boring singer. “Banana Pancakes” gets the listener to bed… to sleep.
